Google Chrome has just been released (Google Chrome) and I would love to install it but I'm getting the following error:
"Download error. The downloaded file failed verification. Error code = 0x80040508"
The 475KB bootstrap install ChromeSetup.exe downloads okay but when it runs it brings up the message "Downloading Google Chrome..." and then that message.
Looking forward to finding a solution for this...
Update: Thanks to Ricardo's comment, here's an alternate download for Chrome that might solve your problem.
About an hour later the download worked. Not sure if it was a problem at Google's end that they fixed or the particular server that I connected to or something else...
ReplyDeleteIt won't download for me either - same error code is what I'm getting. Wassup Google?
ReplyDeleteTim - did you get it to work in the end?
ReplyDeleteThat normally happens on systems that have McAfee Enterprise Edition installed. Solution...hmm well am searching for it too.
ReplyDeleteI didn't and don't have McAfee installed so that wasn't my problem... Good luck finding a solution.
ReplyDeleteHi, Me too facing the same error while dowloading and then installing the chrome. Have you got any solution to this proble.

Bhavesh - I don't think anybody managed to solve this. You just have to try again later and hope that it works.
ReplyDeleteThe problem still
ReplyDeleteHere is another solution that I found on the web but I haven't tried it: Download and install Google Chrome from here cache.pack.google.com/.../chrome_installe
ReplyDeleteHere the same prob. with the installation the msg shows every time as try 2 install.............tried with firewall and antivirus at pause mode, still didn't work.......
ReplyDeleteSame problem here! Bootstrap download works fine but installation fails. Guess is my company firewall blocking downloads. Every info download needs to be scan by antivirus and saved to disk :(
ReplyDeleteNo other way to install Chrome?
Found the solution myself. There is an alternate Google download that works when having this error:
